Sociologists define society as the people who interact in such a way as to share a common culture. Culture refers to the language, values, beliefs, behavior, and material objects that constitute a people’s way of life i.e. it is a defining element of society.
“The cultural bond may be ethnic or racial, based on gender, or due to shared beliefs, values, and activities. Culture and society are intricately related. A culture consists of the objects of a society, whereas a society consists of the people who share a common culture.”
Most countries have formal boundaries and territory that the world recognizes as theirs. However, a society’s boundaries don’t have to be geopolitical borders. Members of a society must come in contact with one another. People of the same society share aspects of their culture, such as language or beliefs.
Pluralistic Society, meaning it is built of many groups. As societies modernize. Some practices that are common in other societies will inevitably offend or contradict the values and beliefs of the new society.
In a truly pluralistic society, no one group is officially considered more influential than another. In keeping with this belief , The term “Multiculturalism” recognizes the original heritages of millions.
